Nothing is worse than feeling left out of things when you’re in high school.
A group of local women plan to make sure as many girls as possible, particularly those who cannot afford dresses, get to go to the prom on April 6. Already more than 10 dresses in all different sizes and colors have been donated, said Becky Patterson, school system health coordinator.
Miss Georgia 2012, Leighton Jordan, will be here on the evening of the prom to hang out with the girls and help them get ready. Jordan will be a contestant in the upcoming Miss America pageant
A number of classy evening dresses have been donated to ‘Pretty for Prom,’ a new program to assure girls who can’t afford a dress a chance to go to the prom April 16. Shown with some of the dresses are program leaders (from left) Bridget Evans, Becky Patterson, Holly Cantrell and Yashica Webb. Donations are accepted at the high school, including shoes, jewelry and tuxedoes.
