Romney-Ryan signs being stolen, defaced

Two citizens have reported the theft or defacing of their yards signs supporting Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan overnight.

Tim Tingen of Hwy. 18 West reported he awoke to find an X through his political sign.

Claudia Gallion of Thomaston Street in Barnesville reported her sign was stolen and another on Florida Avenue that had been defaced.

Are there others?

Mine's ok, but it is sad when people feel like they have to stoop so low to attempt to win an election. Guess what, you who deface signs of opposing parties, it DON'T work!! You just get out the vote even more for our candidate. Romney/Ryan have my vote, no matter what happens to my sign.

would you expect anything different from obama supporters?wait untill the election,if Romney wins i'm sure the streets will fill up with the savages rioting,stealing,burning Ect..

This has gone on in every city and town all over the country ever since I can remember.
It's childish. It does not affect anyone's voting decision. It says nothing about the candidate. It only speaks volumes about the defacer.
Too little, too late, Mr. Spray Paint. See if you can find a different hobby. And by the way, are YOU registered to vote?

Seriously, you can't possibly think that is really true, right? You really think it is much more believable that someone would put a sign in there yard, then remove and/or deface it, then call in and report it rather than just some hooligan committing the vandalism? I'm not even saying it was someone from the opposing party. It could have just been one of the random thugs we have running around Barnesville/Lamar County. But, to think it was supporters of the candidate on the sign that did it is beyond credulity. Although, this is something I wouldn't put beyond Obama supports (after all, they are still blaming George Bush after almost four years of the current administration).

During the Gore, Bush election I had Gore signs in my yard. They were constantly trashed and I had rocks thrown at my house at all hours of the night. I called the police about the situation and was told that maybe I should just take down my signs. Funny how things change isn't it. In the word that some of you have used some dirty filthy savages destroyed my property, and no one cared because I guess my signs were not for the right person. I just love small town hypocrisy, If it were not so sad that so many small minded simpletons could live within a few square miles of each other it would be hilarious.

I hear you. I am not for the defacing of anyone's property and I would say the same for either candidate. I know who I will vote for... back then it was Bush, but I would never have stooped so low as to act the way you describe. It is wrong for anyone, any party, any group.

In the words used here, it was dirty filthy people destroying others' property, and some of us do care.

Does not matter much, Romney/Ryan will crush Georgia and the way its looking now, the rest of the country as well. Also, it seems GOD has his hand in it now and creating horrible weather in the Dem states. Obama Democratic Socialism prey on the fearful and naive. He lies, He lies and He lies yet many still do not understand what he has done and is doing to this country. They don't care.

I'm not a fan of political signs. They, in themselves, deface the landscape and really serve any purpose at all, in my opinion. I don't condone the destructuion of anyone's propert but remember, signs don't vote, people do.

Signs are more about people announcing who they will vote for. They are more a form of in-your-face politics than any meaningful change in results to "educated" voters.

Signs only influence people who don't have any idea who candidates are.

It is unlikely anyone doesn't know who Romney is, or who Obama is, or what either one of them pretend to stand for at any given instant of time. Signs or bumper stickers for them are more about "here's how I'm voting" than anything else.

I always caution my wife to NOT put bumper stickers on her car, because it is a sure way to get a car "keyed" or spit on.

The same is true for businesses. Only an idiot would put a political sign on a business, because in most cases around 50% of customers would be made uncomfortable.

I notice Walter Geiger is smart enough to know this, unlike some others. :-)

It doesn't make it OK no matter who does it and whose name(s) are on the sign. Sorry for your experience, but it does matter. No matter who does it resorting to vandalism shows a weakness of character and of beliefs.

That said, I hope that when you complained and did not get an appropriate response that you pressed the issue. It is never right for law enforcement to just turn around and (essentially) blame the victim for the crime.

the only business that should worry about a Romney/Ryan sign are the ones that take EBT cards.those are the only ones obama voters shop at.

Some of the most well educated, financially solvent people I know are supporting Obama. I think you need to take a better look at his constituency. I personally don't understand it, but that is what I see. I also see many, like myself, struggling in these financial times, supporting R/R. Of course when our family struggles, we tighten our budget and check our spending. Others look to the government for support.

well stated Robert.the main difference is, the wealthy (who provide jobs,unlike the so called unfortunate),all most allways vote Republican.being successful in life or educated?i'll take successful.

Actually it boils down to those with "degrees" paired with cushy "government jobs" who support Obama. Study the facts closely and you will see a trend. Those who are educated and actually contribute to the economy such as small business owners and employees do not support Obama as much. Perhaps you are "better educated" and can figure out why. I would guess that those who feel entitled to a paycheck because they have a college degree and to being paid with taxpayer money would be more inclined to support a president who spews such nonsense every time he opens his mouth. They miss the fact that they wouldn't have those jobs if it weren't for the "not so better educated" actually working and paying taxes.

It would be nice if everyone on both sides of the aisle stopped all the false or exaggerated drama, quit repeating party and corporate lies, presented only facts, and everyone running for office or in office actually told the truth. If that happened, we could actually fix our broken country.

Unfortunately, that will never happen.

For example, most people on welfare are not black...yet the popular thought is most are black. Very few are on drugs (almost none statistically), and most actually work.

We really have a seriously broken system, mostly because of economic policies started in the 1980's. It took 30 years to get this bad.

Hats off the the clowns campaigning for Joe Buice at the intersection of Veterans Pkwy and Hwy 18 this morning. Not that this intersection isn't dangerous enough throw these guys in holding and flipping signs around and wet pavement during the school traffic rush. No they weren't on the side of the road, but in the areas between the turn lanes and travel lanes. Way to show public safety isn't your strong suit. I bet you got a bunch of votes after that stunt! Thank God for sending a downpour to quash the idiocy.

its not the "MOST" people on welfare ,its what percent are on welfare.blacks by far are the highest percent of any race on welfare,just like the highest percent of fatherless children and unwed mothers are blacks.you want facts? those are facts.

Tom - methinks the hard core rot started back around 1913 and forward from there. Woodrow Wilson was a big help getting the Federal Reserve started and then he was extra giving to the banksters by signing the 16th amendment to fund it. Today, we have a glorious system of fiat money courtesy of our friends in Congress, the Senate, and the Executive Branch.
