‘˜Best of Barnesville’ cake auction

Not enough time to make a fantastic cake for Thanksgiving dinner? Your worries are over ‘“ the First United Methodist Church Men’s Club has organized a cake auction Tuesday, Nov. 25 with some of the area’s best bakers. Proceeds from the auction will go to support John’s Place, a ministry for seniors and Alzheimer’s patients and their families operated at First Methodist. UMM president Richard Boggs said, ‘This is a wonderful way to support help for families whose loved ones have this terrible disease, have some fun and get a beautiful cake to serve your family and friends.’ Rotarians have arranged to transport cakes and help with setup, said Mark Stone. Cakes can be viewed at DB’s Pizzeria from 2-5 p.m. and may be available at a buy it now price. The live auction starts at 5 p.m. with auctioneer Bill Lindsey. Some of the promised cakes include pound cakes like chocolate, lemon-blueberry and sour cream; piña colada, red velvet, caramel, carrot, coconut, apple, key lime and Laplander.
