As America’s first inauguration of an African-American president made 2009 a year for the history books, murders, elections and the economy were the top stories for Lamar County. A swine flu pandemic scare turned out to be less dire than predicted but the government offered free flu shots to the populace. Seasonal flu shots were also being offered.
