The Lamar County Trojans are off tonight. They host Jackson in the home opener Aug. 30.
LC went from unranked last week to #5 this week in the Georgia High School Football Daily Class A, Div. I football poll. The jump follows their 24-8 win over Telfair County Aug. 16.
The top 10 in order are Toombs Co., Thomasville, Dublin, Rabun Co., Lamar Co., Commerce, Bleckley Co., Fitzgerald, Swainsboro and Northeast.
Additionally, three Trojans have been named to the Georgia High School Football Daily’s Class A, Div. 1 preseason all-state team.
Senior offensive lineman Trace Morton along with junior linebacker Kaden Carter and junior defensive back Caleb Laster were selected first team. GHSFD is a free newsletter covering high school football in the state run by veteran sportswriters Todd Holcomb and Chip Saye.
