Abrams quashes rumor of his taking GHS job

Friday dawned with the high school sports world consumed with a rumor that Lamar County head coach Jamie Abrams was taking the same job at Griffin High School. GHS had offered the job to Corey Jarvis, head coach at Mays High in Atlanta. Jarvis accepted and was subsequently approved by the Spalding school board by a narrow 3-2 vote. Jarvis later reneged, apparently having got a substantial raise to stay at Mays where he is 91-38 over the past 11 seasons. Asked Friday if there is any truth to the rumors of his going to the Bears, Abrams replied, “None.” More on this as it develops.
