Abreu deemed incompetent; ordered institutionalized

Former Barnesville municipal judge Henry Abreu has been deemed unfit to stand trial and unfit to assist his legal counsel following a court-ordered mental evaluation. Following a lengthy probation revocation hearing that delayed grand jury proceedings Monday, Judge Tommy Wilson ordered Abreu held at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville for 90 days or until he is deemed fit to stand trial. A nursing assistant who attended Abreu at Heritage Inn said he called her cell phone repeatedly offering her employment as his personal nurse and, at one point, left her a message stating he wanted to lick her breasts and genitalia. A second female said she was harassed by Abreu after rear-ending his car in Locust Grove.
