Adams to seek election as district attorney

Jonathan Adams, a career prosecutor and Lieutenant Colonel in the Georgia Army National Guard, has announced his campaign for District Attorney for the Towaliga Judicial Circuit. Adams will be running as a Republican in 2016. The Towaliga Judicial Circuit encompasses Butts, Lamar and Monroe Counties. ‘It’s time for new leadership in our DA’s Office. Our current DA simply isn’t prosecuting cases and many in our circuit feel that too many cases, particularly involving drugs and domestic violence are being dismissed. This is unacceptable for the victims of crimes and for the people of our community. As a husband, a dad of three girls and as a career prosecutor, I won’t let it stand. That’s why I am running.’ A career prosecutor, Adams is an assistant district attorney in the Macon Judicial Circuit. He is currently the lead prosecutor for domestic violence in the major felonies division. He has prosecuted a number of high-profile cases, including murders. Adams is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the Georgia Army National Guard at the Joint Force Headquarters. His 23-year career started when he enlisted in the military as a private in 1992. Prior to his current assignment, Jonathan commanded the Georgia National Guard Response Force and the Military Police Battalion with a combined assigned strength of more than 1000 soldiers. He has been deployed multiple times throughout the world. During his last deployment, Jonathan served as the chief of staff and executive officer in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He also commanded a military police company in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, leading combat support missions throughout Iraq. Jonathan’s military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation and Achievement medals, as well as other awards for the completion of multiple successful missions and special assignments. Adams received his Bachelor of Science Degree from North Georgia College and his Juris Doctorate from Mercer University. A committed family man, Jonathan is married to the former Meredith Porcelli. They currently reside in Forsyth with their three daughters, Katelyn, Emily and Madison.
