AFB presents ‘Sleeping Beauty’ here Feb. 24-26

On Feb. 24-26th, Atlanta Festival Ballet, as part of its School Partnership Project, will work with the Lamar County schools to produce a family friendly version of The Sleeping Beauty Ballet. The Atlanta Festival Ballet School Partnership Project integrates elementary- age children into the professional cast of its productions each year. ‘The Atlanta Festival Ballet’s school program is another example of our dedication to the community and children of the Southern Crescent and surrounding areas,’ said spokesperson Karen Buckley. Nicolas Pacana, Gregory Aaron and Jocelyn Buchanan will bring Aurora, Lilac Fairy, Carabosse, the Blue Bird and Princess Florine to life. Local youth performing in the presentation are : Grace Albritton, Jimerra Fambro, Zoe Smith, Mary Monroe Smith, Paycee Velez, Audrey Balcolm, Madison White, Megan Sealock, Chekera Lawrence, Khairyn Carter, Hope Stone, Lanissa Rozier, Laura Grace Worthy, Tachanda Castlin, Ahmiyea Passmore, Victoria Talley, Kali Perry and Jessica Day. Early in the morning on Thursday, April 28, 2011 a devastating tornado hit Barnesville and the surrounding areas. ’There’s still so much rebuilding needed and so many families were affected,’ she said. ‘Atlanta Festival Ballet will take 1% of its profits from the show and donate them to the Barnesville-Lamar Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund.
