The Lamar County Trojans spent last week at football camp and it was 48 hours of intense preparation for the upcoming season.’Camp went really well. We had about 60 guys out and they worked extremely hard. It was great to have them here and focus on football 12 hours a day for four days. There is just not another situation where they can be here and learn as much as they did last week,’ head coach Jason Strickland reported.Strickland’s coaching staff got their offense and defense installed and challenged their players.’The coaches did a great job of breaking things down into stages so the kids could get a firm understanding of what we’re doing. We were also able to put the players in some mentally and physically challenging situations and are excited about how they responded throughout the week,’ Strickland added.Rodnique Brown has been one standout on defense through preseason practice thus far.’Rodnique had a great summer so it wasn’t surprising to see him have a great camp. It doesn’t look like he’ll be coming off the field very much when the games start. Johntavious Gilbert was right along with Rod. The two of them have done a great job controlling the defense and getting everyone lined up. They’re responsible for basically all of our adjustments so we’re throwing a lot at them,’ Strickland reported.
