The Lamar County commission moved toward approval of a controversial airstrip in the Redbone community at its regular meeting Oct. 13. David Bushby is seeking a special exception to place the airstrip on land he plans to purchase from the Bush family. The commission instructed county attorney Scott Mayfield to work with Bushby’s legal team to put stipulations in the property deed limiting the Bushbys to five residential lots around the strip and a maximum of 25 flights per month.
