The Town of Aldora and the Lamar school system are in discussions regarding the system’s acquisition of a large portion of the Aldora Village property. School superintendent Jute Wilson met with the town council regarding the matter last week. The system’s long-term plan is to locate turf baseball and softball fields and associated structures on the property for its high school programs. Infrastructure work to handle water runoff from the athletic fields is already in progress.Aldora intends to keep the portion of the property nearest the Upson Regional medical building on which to build a town hall and for other uses. The village property adjoins school system’s new soccer/practice field and the dressing room facilities in the building that formerly served as the college and career academy. Aldora had, at one time, considered developing a gated community with home sites and other amenities on the property.
