Alert citizens help solve crimes

Neighborhood Watch was spearheaded by City Council Member Mark Stone a couple of years ago and it is responsible for solving two recent burglaries. An alert neighbor took a picture of a suspicious car in his neighbor’s yard and forwarded it to police. Barnesville Police officers were dispatched to that residence minutes later and discovered that the home was burglarized. Barnesville Police officer Rex Johnson found the vehicle the following day. Zoe Elizabeth Joseph, age 19, of Jonesboro was arrested and charged with Theft by Receiving stolen property and Party to a Crime. Keylon Joseph Smith, age 20, of College Park is wanted for Burglary. Sheriff Deputies and Barnesville Police officers worked together solving the two burglaries and were able to recover most of the stolen items. The stolen items were taken to pawn shops around Atlanta. The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and Barnesville Police Department would like to thank the concerned citizen as we continue to promote our Neighborhood Watch Program. We continue to ask for our citizens to be alert and continue to report any suspicious activity. Report crime at bpd@cityofbarnesville.com or tips@lamarcountysheriff.com.
