All-Star World Series sendoff includes parade today

The 12U All-Stars are off to the Dixie Youth World Series in Andersonville, S.C. this week and the community will send them off with a parade this afternoon. The route will be the same used for Buggy Days and homecoming parades.

Units will begin forming up at 5 p.m. at the Gordon parking lots off College Drive. The parade will move out at 5:30 p.m. Sponsors and the public are invited to participate.

Multiple sponsors stepped up with donations last week after pleas for financial help in getting the team to Andersonville, food and lodging.

The local stars are the Georgia runner-up. They battle the championship team from Virginia at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the double elimination series. If they win, they will play the winner between North Carolina’s champs and the Alabama runner-up at Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

A first round loss would relegate them to a loser’s bracket where they would face the loser of the North Carolina-Alabama runner-up at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

This is the first LC all-star team in history to make it to World Series play. They are coached by Sam Waterman, Daniel Williams and Mike Johns.

The players are Clayton Andrews, Jr., Gage Burks, Skyler Cochran, Jaylen Dallas, Tristan Dallas, Blake Helble, Jacob Johns, Asher Parlor, Max Tileston, Gavin Tworek and Davis Williams.
