Alleged burglar run down, arrested

A Griffin police officer who is a native of Lamar County ran down and arrested an alleged burglar Thursday. On Thursday November 21, 2013 at 8:17 a.m. Griffin Police officers responded to an anonymous tip of a burglary in progress at 424 North 6th St. Cpl. Chad Moxon was first on the scene and observed a suspect exiting the rear door of the residence. The suspect fled the scene and Moxon gave chase on foot. The suspect ran into a wooded area and after a brief struggle was arrested by Cpl. Moxon. Griffin Investigators have charged 25 year old Zavious Goodman with Burglary and Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer. Goodman is also charged with Theft by Taking related to an earlier incident on Lane St. His last address was listed as being on North Hill St. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues. Griffin Investigators credit this arrest to the anonymous complaint that was placed to the 911 Center. According to Lt. Tony Thomason of the Criminal Investigation Division ‘Officers rely on the public to report suspicious activity and crime to law enforcement.
