By Walter GeigerA local woman charged with beating her three-month-old daughter against a headboard when she would not go to sleep will continue her quest to be released from jail on bond.Linda Jessica Gunn, 20, will appear in Lamar superior court before Judge Tommy Wilson September 16 for a second bond hearing. She was denied bond at a previous hearing last month by Judge E. Byron Smith.She is charged with nine counts of first degree cruelty to children. Her daughter suffered a broken leg and a fractured skull. She is in protective custody. Gunn was pregnant at the time of her arrest.In a related development, Gunn’s father is in jail on similar charges in Fayette County. Jesse Marshall Gunn, 39, of Barnesville was arrested Aug. 17 for beating and choking his girlfriend and roughing up her 14-year-old son. He is charged with battery, cruelty to children, simple battery and driving on a revoked or suspended license.Jesse Gunn is a convicted felon. In July 1992 he was convicted of theft by taking in Lamar County and burglary in Monroe County. He served just over 10 months of a two-year sentence at Muscogee County Correctional Institute.
