Alleged child killer denied bond; death penalty considered

The man accused of killing nine-year-old Skylar Dials was denied bond Thursday morning in Spalding County superior court.Dials was found dead in a wooded area near her Williamson home December 21, a day after she was reported missing.Authorities have charged Shane Collett, 40, with the murder and said he tried to get investigators off his trail by assisting with the search for her. Collett’s attorney tried to have Thursday’s bond hearing closed to the media but that motion was denied.Prosecutors are considering seeking the death penalty for Collett.
