Christopher Keith Calmer, 46, made a first appearance in Monroe Superior Court Sept. 16 before Judge Tommy Wilson. He was returned to jail. Security was tight as evidenced in video inside by Monroe County Reporter publisher Will Davis. Calmer shot and killed Monroe deputy Michael Norris and wounded fellow deputy Jeffrey Wilson. Norris was the son of Bennett Norris who is affiliated with Akins Farm and Home in Barnesville. Wilson is the stepfather of Lamar deputy Hope McEachern.
