Alleged dealer pulled from storm sewer

Cornelius Walker, 29, of an Atlanta Street address is pictured above in the storm drain from which he was pulled Monday morning, Nov. 9. After a tip about a drug transaction, Walker was stopped driving a 2007 Chevy Avalanche and handcuffed. He fled, cuffs and all, and crawled into a culvert off Sardis Street and refused to come out. After about 30 minutes in the cold, wet sewer, officers and city personnel removed the concrete top of a drain some 50 yards from where he entered the sewer and pulled him out. Walker is no stranger to local law enforcement and is thought to be a high level dealer in town, chief Chuck Keadle said. Authorities found 67 bags of marijuana packaged for sale and about an ounce and a half of cocaine in the Avalanche.
