Superior court clerk Frank Abbott and his staff have begun calling jurors for the upcoming murder trials of Shameik Jamilahad Spinks and Lekievius T. Eleby which will get underway later this month. Spinks and Eleby face two counts of felony murder and multiple additional charges in connection with the home invasion murder of Danavan Bussey here in December, 2010. Some 130 jurors have been summoned for Spinks’ trial which is set to begin Monday, Feb. 27. Eleby’s trial will begin one week later on March 5. A pre-trial hearing in both cases is set for 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 in Lamar superior court. A third defendant in the case, Bryce Arsenio Smith, has accepted a plea deal and will testify against his alleged partners in crime.
