Alleged serial arsonist back in custody

A Houston County man suspected of multiple area arsons was taken into custody for the third time Friday morning, according to sheriff Brad White. Travis Leroy Ball was picked up by Houston County law enforcement at 11:45 a.m. Lamar deputies were on the way to pick him up for a return to the Lamar County jail shortly thereafter. Judge Tommy Wilson signed a pickup order for Ball earlier this week after he was spotted in a convenience store here over the Labor Day holiday weekend in the wee hours of the morning. A clerk reported the sighting and deputies confirmed it was Ball via the store’s video surveillance system. Ball also used a debit card in a transaction at the store, doubly confirming his presence in Lamar County where he was banned save for court appearances. It was the second bond revocation for Ball who has been indicted on two counts of arson in Upson County and is charged with one count of arson here. He had been free on a cash bond in excess of $150,000.
