A suspect has been arrested related to several thefts that have occurred in the area. Investigators have charged Van Nathaniel Collins with seven counts of theft by taking, according to Capt. Dwayne Jones of the Griffin Police Department. The incidents involved several cellular phones from Spalding Regional Hospital, a donation jar inside of the Chevron Patriot store and a wallet from the Flint River Library. Collins was identified by uniform officers after viewing video from a local establishment. Collins has admitted to the 7 counts of theft. He was charged with misdemeanor theft by taking. He is listed as being homeless.
