Marvin Alspach had a dream weekend June 13-15 at Michigan International Speedway as the longtime race fan announced the big words at Saturday’s Michigan 200 NASCAR truck race. That was, indeed, Lamar County’s own Alspach, serving as grand marshal, announcing at the start of the race: “Gentlemen, start your engines!” The weekend began Friday with an interview with Claire B. Lang on the Sirius Satellite Radio NASCAR Station. The first thing on Saturday’s agenda was watching the truck race qualifying from the presidential suite at corporate headquarters. ”Next we were ushered by our personal driver Nick to the garage area for the driver’s meeting,” said Alspach. “It all works like clockwork.”
