Amy Adams: ‘This is a great place’

Star Amy Adams has left Barnesville as local filming of HBO’s ‘˜Sharp Objects’ starts to wind down. The cast and crew worked for almost two months in California before coming here. Mayor Peter Banks presented Adams with a framed proclamation Saturday afternoon on the set downtown proclaiming July 8 as Amy Adams Day. Chamber officials gave her a framed print of the depot signed by property owners the crew has worked with while lensing here. Director Jean-Marc Vallée said he picked Barnesville on the fly while traveling between two other towns the location crew had scouted out. ‘I liked Barnesville when we passed through. They started out wanting a town square. We got to the second town and I said ‘˜let’s go back to Barnesville’,’ Vallée said. Adams reported she has very much enjoyed her time in Barnesville. ‘Everybody has been so nice and supportive. This is a great place,’ she said. ’Sharp Objects’ will air in eight episodes next summer. If it is renewed, the crew will be back during the summer of 2019.
