Another title for Gordon

The Lady Highlanders won the 2012 GCAA softball championship winning four of five games in the conference tournament played at Strong Rock Christian School in Locust Grove. Gordon now prepares to go to the NJCAA softball World Series in St. George, Utah May 17-19. Gordon entered the GCAA tournament as the third seed and won two games on the first day beating sixth seeded Abraham Baldwin 5-4 and second seeded Georgia Perimeter 6-3. On day two, a late three run homer gave the Lady Highlanders a 4-3 upset win over top seeded and 16th ranked Darton. The Lady Cavaliers are defending conference champions. Darton made their way through the loser’s bracket of the double elimination tournament and into the championship where they bested the Lady Highlanders 7-1. But they had to win twice to claim their second straight championship and Gordon would have none of that as they jumped out to an early lead and fended off the Lady Cavs for a 7-5 win and the championship. Gordon now boasts a 38-17 record for the season as they get ready to go to Utah.
