A man armed with a gun robbed Reliable Mart on Veterans Parkway overnight. BPD investigator Al Moltrum reports a suspect is in custody. “We are in the process of recovering the stolen cash now,” Moltrum reported just after 8 a.m. Tuesday. There were reports that the robber struck a clerk at the store in the face with his pistol. Reliable Mart is on Veterans Parkway at the corner of Grove Street. UPDATE. Moltrum identified the man arrested in the case as Quantavius Simmons, 18. Moltrum said Simmons did not use a gun but a hammer wrapped in a brown towel to make it look like a gun. He also said the clerk was not struck during the robbery.
