An arrest or arrests were made Tuesday evening in the case of the hit and run death here Saturday night of Alexandra Desir, the Herald Gazette has confirmed. Barnesville police chief Chuck Keadle confirmed an apprehension, noting more details will be released Wednesday morning. The arrest ended an intense investigation… in which police and sheriff’s investigators and personnel from the Georgia State Patrol accumulated lists of all Saturn Vues from the year models 2002 – 2005 registered in the area and started canvassing those owners. The also reviewed footage from security cameras around town that might have captured an image of the vehicle. The canvassing of Vue owners apparently turned up the SUV, however. One owner reportedly told investigators she had loaned a Vue out to a friend who was moving. The friend was supposed to return the SUV Sunday but failed to do so then made repeated excuses for not returning it as time went on. That turned out to be the suspect vehicle which was, according to another unconfirmed report, seized in Jonesboro and returned to the evidence impound lot at the local jail for processing.
