Arson is suspected in a suspicious fire that destroyed a home on Hwy. 36 West just before midnight Sunday. Herald-Gazette reader Bill Johnson watched the fire that consumed an abandoned house adjacent to the go-kart track west of Barnesville. Johnson said the home belonged to H.B. and Olin McCollum. Major Brad White reported a suspicious person was seen at the home Saturday and near the scene as the fire raged. The male was driving a white pickup truck.
