Arthur Lee Emerson, III, age 83, of Cumming, Georgia, died on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
He was born on March 15, 1940 to Arthur Lee Emerson, II and Laura Wilbanks King and grew up in Barnesville, Georgia. Lee attended Gordon Military College and the University of Georgia before working in the banking industry for many years. He ventured into his own businesses, including insurance and financial advisement.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Jewel Emerson. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Downs Emerson, and his siblings, Bonnie Cook, Jenny Turley, Guy Emerson, Bill Emerson and their families. He is also survived by his daughters, Lisa Emerson Shurtz, Tara Emerson Blackmore, and Tanya Emerson Beresh and their families, and his step-children, Jennifer Brookshire, Amy Cochran, DeAnna Woody, Michael Downs, Lisa Smith, and AJ Downs and their families.
There will be no formal service. We are honoring Lee’s wishes by holding a family get-together to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to an organization that brings you peace and joy.
