LCCHS principal Derick Austin has accepted a position as assistant superintendent with the Putnam County school system and head football coach Franklin Stephens may be going with him. UPDATE: There are multiple, unconfirmed reports that Stephens has been hired at Ware County and will be formally introduced at a school board meeting there Friday. Outgoing Lamar superintendent Dr. Bill Truby confirmed that Austin is leaving for Eatonton. Indications are that Stephens, arguably the most successful football coach in LCCHS history though he has been here only two years, is interviewing at Putnam County today. There are additional reports that Stephens is one of two finalists for the head coaching job at Ware County. More to follow….
