Lamar coroner Jim Smith is awaiting autopsy and toxicology results from the state crime lab to determine the cause of death of 55-year-old Vickie Hawkins Perdue of Barnesville. Perdue was found dead in the floor beside a bed at the Piedmont Pines apartment complex off Gordon Road. She had moved into the apartment with a male subject after her previous residence burned. ’The male said she had been sick for a few days. He had offered her food the night before but she declined. The next morning he found her dead on the floor,’ Smith said. Toxicology results could take months, Smith added. Funeral services for Perdue were held Saturday at Williams Funeral Home.
