Despite gains in several areas, two Lamar County schools did not meet Adequate Yearly Progress in Georgia’s first round of announcements of schools meeting federally-mandated goals. The high school and middle school did not meet AYP while the elementary and primary schools did. This could change after standardized and graduation retest results from June are factored in. The final AYP will not be released until fall.”AYP is one measure of our academic progress. Even though we progressed in every single area, the challenge of rising standards tripped us up once again,” said superintendent Dr. Bill Truby.
