B&G Club fund drive to begin soon; leaders seek executive director

An all out effort to raise $250,000 will begin soon with individual and corporate solicitation drives. The club building is already under construction on the LCEs campus and will open in Jan. 2020. At a steering committee meeting Aug. 27, leaders decided to target kids in third through eighth grade. The club will offer an array of after school activities and will be open to members over the summer when school is out. Club involvement is a proven deterrent to teen pregnancy, runaways, alcohol and drug abuse, sexual assault, theft and fighting. Nearly 100% of those who stick with the program graduate from high school. The steering committee, headed up by chairman Joe Edwards and vice-chairman Andy Bush, is also looking to hire an executive director. Applicants should have a bachelors’ degree with a major in or emphasis on social work, early childhood development or a related field of study. The salary range is $40,000-$60,000 with a benefits package worth $15,000-$20,000. Resumes may be sent to P.O. Box 624, Barnesville, Ga. 30204.
