As the fourth annual Back to School Bash nears, organizers hope to fill enough book bags for the nearly 1,800 children who, along with their parents, will fill the recreation complex track and infield. The event will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, two days before the start of school. There will be free school supplies and book bags along with plenty of fun activities. ’Book bag and supply collections are coming along,’ organizer April Smith said. ‘We are really needing more book bags,hand sanitizers, a couple of mists fans and a few more volunteers.’ All donations and supplies can be dropped off at the E.P. Roberts Center through Friday. Last year’s Bash was on one of the hottest days of the year and, since parents and children began lining up about 7 a.m., water supplies ran low.
