Barks & Boos is Saturday

The Dolly Goodpuppy Society will hold its fourth annual Barks and Boos event Saturday, Oct. 20, from 1-4 p.m. on the grounds of Dolie McCarthy’s Antebellum Oaks bed and breakfast. Public-friendly, non-aggressive dogs on leashes are invited. Tickets are $5 per person and include costume contest entry, lunch and a door prize drawing. Entry tickets may be purchased in advance from Dolly Goodpuppy members or at the door. Games and activities tickets are 25 cents and will be sold at the gate. Most activities and games including cake walks, pumpkin decorating, sack races, toss games, pin the nose on the pumpkin, target drop and go fish will cost one to six tickets. Halloween attire is encouraged. There will be costume contests for pets and owners with prizes for best dog, adult and child costumes. Also included will be carnival games, face painting and a meet-and-greet for adoptable pets. Donations can be made to the organization. Needed items include canned and dry food, collars, leashes, toys, metal bowls, towels, plastic grocery bags, and cash donations to cover the cost of inoculations, deworming and other necessary medications. Proceeds will go to Dolly Goodpuppy Society’s nonprofit educational and rescue efforts.
