Barks & Boos, other Halloween events upcoming

Several events have been planned for Halloween week, including two rescue society fundraisers and three church events. As usual, the residential areas of downtown Barnesville will be the site for trick or treaters on Halloween night itself, Oct. 31. The Dolly Goodpuppy Society’s fifth annual Barks ‘˜n’ Boos Fall Festival will be held this Saturday, Oct. 19, from 1-4 p.m. at Barnesville Self Storage. Adults, children and their leashed, public-friendly, non-aggressive dogs may attend. Halloween attire is encouraged and prizes will be awarded for best dog and owner costumes. A variety of carnival games and activities will be offered. At the adoption and donation booth, attendees can meet and greet puppies and dogs available for adoption and make donations. Needed items include canned and dry food, collars, leashes, toys, metal bowls, towels, plastic grocery bags and cash donations to cover the cost of inoculations, de-worming and other necessary medications. Ticket prices are $5 per person and include lunch, entry into all costume contests and eligibility for door prizes. Additional 25-cent tickets will be sold at the event for games and activities, with most priced at one to six tickets. Proceeds will benefit the educational and rescue efforts of the DGS, a nonprofit organization and licensed rescue. For information visit dollygoodpuppy. org and its Facebook page.
