Barnesville assigned AA-municipal bond credit rating

Standard & Poor’s Corporation, the pre-eminent global provider of independent investment, valuation and analysis data, has assigned a ‘high investment grade’ credit rating of AA to Barnesville.Only bonds issued by the strongest municipal issuers of fixed income securities qualify for ‘high investment grade’ ratings. This rating makes Barnesville one of the highest rated cities of its size in Georgia. The rating was assigned as the city prepares to issue fixed-rate municipal bonds to finance construction of a new wastewater treatment plant and refinance existing debt.
