Barnesville city council has set a proposed 2012 budget of $12,943,225, a 3.3% increase over 2011. City manager Kenny Roberts said the main increases came in electrical rate hikes and personnel.The budget includes $1,880,870 in various fees and taxes and a total of $2,398,982 for the general fund. The waste management and electrical fund is expected to total $8,287,839 and the water and sewerage fund is estimated to come in at $2,276,404.As approved on first reading at a Sept. 8 called meeting, the millage rate will be 4.063 mills while tax revenue is expected to fall 1.2% from last year to $484,747.
