As this year’s Buggy Days Festival draws nearer, plans are being made for thousands of visitors who will crowd the streets as Barnesville celebrates the 38th anniversary of the festival. In addition, the GPTV show Georgia Traveler will cover Buggy Days this year.Events will begin Saturday, Sept. 10 with the merchants’ window decorating contest being judged at 10 a.m. First, second and third place winners will receive a gift certificate to the August Moon Tea Room. The Buggy Days beauty pageant will be held at the Lamar County Fine Arts Center, also beginning at 10 a.m.Tuesday, Sept. 13, Kid’s Night will be held at the Lamar County Trojan football field parking lot from 5-6:30 p.m. This is a free event for children ages 0-12. The Almost Anything Goes games will be held at the stadium beginning at 6:30 p.m.The annual concert and street dance will be held at Ritz Park Friday, Sept. 16. Gates open at 7 p.m. Bands will include Biscuit, Session Road,and Contagious. Coolers are not permitted. Bring chairs, blankets, and ID. Admission is $10. Saturday and Sunday Sept. 18-19 will be the arts and crafts show. Saturday vendors will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 12-5 p.m. The Kid’s Park will be open, featuring many different activities for children for $10 a day. Live music will be on Main Street Saturday and Sunday.Saturday, Sept. 17, the Buggython will begin at 8 a.m. Parking for the race will be at the Gordon College Athletic Complex. Saturday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. the Buggy Days Parade will begin on at the corner of College Drive and Summers Field. The parade route will be shortened this year and will end at Stafford Avenue, not Spencer Street.
