Members of Barnesville Fire Deparment, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, Barnesville Police Department and Mid-Georgia Ambulance showed up at one the many vacant Carters Mill warehouses at 10 a.m. to participate in a well-planned, well-executed HAZMAT drill scenario. The call went out as such: At approximately 4:30 an E-911 call comes in from the Carters Mill security building. The security guard advises 911 that he heard a large explosion inside of building B. He also states that inside of that building there are chemicals; however he does not know what kind. E-911 then dispatches Barnesville-Lamar County fire and rescue. They also dispatch the Barnesville Police Department to the scene. Upon arrival of the BPD the security guard tells the office there may be a maintenance worker inside of the building.
