Barnesville man bitten by shark at Key Largo

A Barnesville man was bitten by a shark Saturday while snorkeling at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo, Fla. Donnie Perry, 59, was attacked by the shark while visiting the park with his wife, Laura. They were celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. Perry was bitten in the left leg and has undergone two surgeries with more expected. A witness said the attack came within 15 minutes of all the snorkelers leaving the boat and that Perry signaled for help by waving his hands. A crew member went into the water and got him out. Others on the boat said they saw barracuda in the water but no sharks. Shark bites are uncommon at the state park. The Perrys live on Greenwood Street here and he works at Quad Graphics.
