Women in the Blues will be the theme of the 7th annual BBQ & Blues Festival that gets underway here Thursday, April 21 with a kickoff party at United Bank downtown.Cook teams will arrive that afternoon and Barnesville will be filled with barbecue smoke and smoking hot blues.Veronika Jackson will perform a free show Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m. E.G. Kight will headline the blues main event that night at Ritz Park and Beverly (Guitar) Watkins, who still performs at age 70, will receive the annual Georgia Music Legend Award. After Kight’s set, the show will close with a funk review by Contagious. Festival chairman T.J. Imberger compares the funk act to Mother’s Finest.Here is a clip of E.G.
