BBQ & Blues heating up

The Godfather, Harvey Coffer, will perform with 4U2C when they headline Friday night’s free concert at BBQ & Blues. ’He does old school blues and soul and has been performing in Jacksonville a lot,’ noted 4U2C member Warren Bush. Late Barnesville mayor Dewaine T. Bell, co-founder of BBQ & Blues, was an original member of 4U2C. Another original member, Charles Ogletree, is returning for Friday night’s performance. Other members of the band are Bush, Elliot Chambers, Jean McDaniel, James Holloway, Deon Fletcher and Benny Watts. Opening the Friday show is The Blues Fish with a 5 p.m. set. They will be followed by the Neal Lucas Band and then 4U2C. Saturday’s free concert kicks off at 11 a.m. with Biscuit, followed by Veronika Jackson and Pryme. Saturday night’s Ritz Park show features the Melflames, the Crossroads Blues Band with E.G. Kight and Men in Blues. Admission for that show is $10. Event organizer T.J Imberger said 43 pro cook teams have confirmed for the competition cook-off with more expected. The filming of a BBQ Pitmasters episode here has fueled interest, Imberger said.
