BENEFEST on tap June 25

On April 28 a devastating tornado ripped through Lamar County, changing the landscape and lives forever. Over 100 structures were damaged or destroyed. Two people lost their lives; others were injured. ’Every resident felt the impact of the catastrophe in one way or another,’ said Ken Green. ‘The community effort and support has been overwhelming since the storm but much more needs to be and will be done.’ Just one of the projects planned to help is BENEFEST, a family friendly musical event to raise funds for the local storm relief effort to aid those who were decimated by the tornado that night. BENEFEST is Greens’ brainchild. BENEFEST will be held Saturday, June 25, from 12 noon until 12 midnight at the Lamar County Fine Arts Center at 100 Burnette Road in Barnesville. It will feature many local and area performers who have volunteered their talents for the cause. The lineup is tentative and subject to change but right now includes TripleThreaT, Hunter Price, Junkshun, Buck Wilder, Stan Greene, Them Morris Boys, LadyCreech and the Main Street Band, Biscuit, Mitch Morris, Crystal Trusty, Hail The Revolt!, The Geisha Hit Squad, TinnMan, Gary Ware, Peach State Rockers and Southwind. All proceeds from the day will go directly to the local relief effort as coordinated by the Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce. There will be a $10 admission and donations of non-perishable food and new or slightly used clothing items will be accepted. You may contact Green KenKGreen@aol.com
