Bessie L. Jackson Brantley died Aug. 2, 2014.Mrs. Brantley was born in Barnesville Oct. 26, 1936 to the late Joseph and Mary E. Jackson Sr. Bessie attended Barnesville Industrial School. She was a team leader and supervisor with the William Carter Company, retiring after 30 years. At age 12, she joined Sardis Baptist Church.Survivors include her husband, A.B. Brantley of Barnesville; three sons, Donny (Catherine) Brantley of Atlanta, Anthony (Annice) Brantley of Griffin and Norman Brantley of Barnesville; brothers and sisters, Joseph (Nancy) Jackson of Riverdale, Jewell Ellis and Jacquelyn Mack of Griffin, James (Patsy) Jackson of Forsyth, Johnny (Waiverly) Jackson of Macon, Alexander Jackson of Barnesville, Judy (Rollie) White and June Jackson of Griffin; one granddaughter, Danielle Brantley; one grandson, Antwon Brantley; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, N.E. Brantley, Mattie Few, Dorothy Edge and Diane (Maurice) Holt all of Barnesville, Mary Jean (James) Daniel of Riverdale and Bernell Lewis of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; friends, Kathryn Zellner and Louise Smith; and nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.Services were held Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Sardis Baptist. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Eddie F. Collier officiated.Bentley and Sons Funeral Home in Barnesville had charge of arrangements.
