Billy Ray Allison obituary

Mr. Billy Ray Allison, age 66 of Milner, Ga., passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Allison was born on May 3, 1946 in Eddyville, Iowa to Clarence and Alpha Allison. He grew up in Eddyville and joined the U.S. Army at age 18. Mr. Allison served in the Army for 20 years and tours of duty included Germany, The Pentagon in Washington, D.C., Vietnam, and Fort Gillem, Ga. In 1987 he purchased a farm near Milner and began a horse breeding business, which later expanded to include training and showing horses. Mr. Allison became well known and respected in the horse industry in this area. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Ford Allison; daughters, Brianna Monroe and husband Neal of Milner and Brenda Allison of Jonesboro; son, Bradley Allison and wife Jenny of Milner; six grandchildren, Joshua Monroe and wife Ashley of Macon, Jeremy Monroe of Milner, Jessica Monroe of Milner, Nathan Davis of Jonesboro, Courtney Allison of Milner and Calin Allison of Milner; one great-grandchild, Canaan Ray Monroe of Macon; six siblings, Evelyn Fisher, Phyllis Roozeboom, Kenneth Allison, Betty Van Loon, Robert Allison and Wilma Jean Allison, all of Eddyville and Oskaloosa, Iowa. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in Griffin, Ga., on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 2 p.m. Rev. Milton Hill and Rev. Jered Day will officiate.
