by Ken K. GreenThe gridiron Trojans will wrap up two weeks of spring practice with their annual Blue/White intra squad scrimmage at Trojan Field today beginning at 5:30 p.m.Lamar head coach Jason Strickland reported Monday they will start a half hour earlier than originally planned because LCMS coaches were concerned they might not be able to get all of their players time on the field when they scrimmage the upcoming freshman at six o’clock. The reserve middle school Trojans will scrimmage each other to kick things off followed by the front line middle schoolers vs. the ninth graders. The varsity and junior varsity will then participate in a controlled type scrimmage rather than one under full game conditions. Coach Strickland said he and his staff decided to do this because they weren’t totally comfortable with all of the guys being ready to execute the new schemes enough to be able to divide into two teams.”We just need more live reps on offense and defensively we have to be more consistent”, Strickland said. Two projected starters, All-Region linebacker Nicolas Heminger and receiver/running back Jeremy Fletcher will be held out of tonight’s scrimmage due to injuries they sustained in practice last week.Admission to the scrimmage is five dollars.
