Body found on Hwy. 36W; Lenhart arrested

A body was found early Friday alongside the railroad tracks off Hwy. 36 West. The man was the apparent victim of a hit and run and a lookout for a suspect vehicle has been issued. Coroner Jim Smith identified the dead man as Thomas Norman Anderson, 33, of 210 Forsyth Street in Barnesville. The investigation is ongoing and the body has been sent to the crime lab, the coroner said. Lamar deputies and the state patrol are looking for a suspect vehicle: a 1997-2003 Ford Expedition or F-150 pickup. The vehicle will have extensive damage to its front end and passenger side. The passenger side window and mirror will be missing. If you have information, call the sheriff’s office at 770.358.5159. UPDATE: Sheriff’s investigator’s located the suspect vehicle in the hit and run and an arrest has been made. LCSO chief deputy Maj. Brad White said investigators arrested Thomas Lenhart Jr., 28, of 1540 Willis Road. Charges are not yet finalized but will likely include vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.
