Bomb threat at Williams Funeral Home

Williams Funeral Home on Rose Ave. in Barnesville has been evacuated and the surrounding area cordoned off due to a bomb threat. UPDATE: The scene has been cleared. No explosives were found. UPDATE 2: (FROM BPD CHIEF CRAIG COOPER) On May 31st, 2017 Williams Funeral Home received a bomb threat via fax machine. The Bibb County Sheriffs Office bomb K9 was notified and responded and cleared the building with no devices located. I later received a report that this has occurred over a dozen times throughout the nation as a hoax. We treated this incident as a real threat and followed protocol as required. If you receive this threat please treat it as real and notify you local law enforcement agency. We ask that you do not take any chances. A caller threatened to ‘blow up the funeral home and the whole damn block’ just after 10 a.m. Bomb sniffing dogs are en route from Macon to clear the scene. The four-lane remains open but avoid the area if possible. More to follow….
