Bomb threats made to dentist’s office

By Rachel McDaniel A bomb threat was called in to the dentist office of Dr. Gerald Cauthen, DDS, early in the morning Wednesday, Sept. 16. According to Sgt. B. McWhorter, the first call was made around 7:30 a.m. before the office opened. ’The office was evacuated and searched by the Barnesville Fire Department,’ he said. ‘Basically, the voice message said, ‘˜Get Out, Bomb!’ Then he called back again and left a message saying ‘˜Yall are all going to be dead’ with several curse words included.’ Sgt. McWhorter said he was able to retrieve the number from the office’s caller ID system and employees there saw that a customer in their computer system had the same number. He said he went to the address where the number was registered and after questioning Robert S. Hedgecock, 59, of Harmony Hill Ranch Road, he admitted to calling the dentist’s office. Hedgecock was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and acts. Sgt. McWhorter said during the interview, Hedgecock did not give a reason for making the call. He said it could have been alcohol related.
